Parent Support

Support for parents with Google Classroom where work is allocated to students for homework and revision purposes.

We recognise that revision can be tough for students and that students can find this period of time. There are a range of ways that you are able to support your child with their revision. We have condensed these into the 5 B's. This will help your child feel more prepared for their revision for assessments at home.

There are multiple resources available to your child at home and school.

BE PRESENT

Be involved with your child's revision - know what topics they are revising and when their assessments are. Assessments are regularly published in the Achievement Team Newsletter.

BE HELPFUL

Assist your child to create a revision timetable that incorporates suitable breaks.

BE A QUIZMASTER

Quiz your child on the theory that is being assessed utilizing their books, flashcards and online resources. This will lead to revision becoming a positive and fun experience. Challenge each other and make a competition out of the subject.

BE MINDFUL

Revision can cause stress and create anxiety. Encourage your child to take rest breaks from their revision, as this will help them process the information that they are revising.

It is important that your child has a suitable workspace to revise away from distractions. Avoiding distractions help the brain to concentrate on the task at hand and will help to think more clearly, helping to process information better.

BE POSITIVE

As mentioned, revision can be stressful. Praise your child as much as possible. Making revision a positive experience and one they will not fear in the future. Reward them for their hard work and encourage your child when they may be finding it difficult.
