If you are a student or have a student that currently has an IEP or a 504 Plan, please use the specific sections below to find information on testing accommodations for AP exams through College Board:
Please note, once a student has been granted specific testing accommodations through College Board, a student does not need to apply for them again unless a change is necessary.
Testing Accommodations Explained
College Board considers all requests for accommodations needed by students with documented disabilities to make it more equitable for success on AP exams.
Read below how certain accommodations are implemented:
Extended Time - There are 2 types of extended time.
Time and one-half - A student will receive 50% more time than the standard time (3 hrs = 4.5 hrs).
Double Time - A student will receive 100% more time than the standard time (3 hrs = 6 hrs).
Breaks - There are 3 types of breaks.
Extra breaks - These breaks are a standard length—usually 5 minutes—and are given at scheduled times. These breaks do count towards testing time.
Extended breaks - These breaks are longer than the standard length and given at scheduled times. These breaks do count towards testing time.
Breaks as needed - These breaks are for certain medical conditions. These breaks do not count towards testing time.
Small Group - A student will be tested with a group of 12 or less students. This accommodation is given to students who already receive this accommodation for classroom testing.
Use of Four-Function Calculator - A student that has a diagnosed mathematics disability will be able to use a four-function calculator on AP exams or AP exam sections where calculators are not permitted. This student cannot be tested with the rest of the standard group.

Requesting to Waive Certain Accommodations for this year's exam
A student can waive any accommodation that they do not wish to receive for specific AP exams this year. Each exam must be listed to notify which exams to waive specific testing accommodations. This must be done every school year unless a permanent change is requested.
For example, if a student receives a Computer Processor accommodation for their dysgraphia disability, they can waive this accommodation for a hybrid exam that requires the student to show their steps of understanding for math questions since it may be difficult to use a Computer Processor to demonstrate their math skills.
