For some jobs it's vital that one has direct knowledge of the past and these careers rely on understanding South African and world history. Examples: History teacher/ lecturer/ historian or museum curator.
Other jobs require having knowledge of our history in order to contextualise current events. Examples: lawyer, economist,business analyst, journalist.
But most jobs require an ability to analyse information, and then report back on findings by presenting a clear logical argument, or creating something new from gained knowledge. Studying History allows individuals to learn the skills necessary to do this.
