Directions for Teachers:
Read the student directions (feel free to adjust the directions to fit your style)
Schedule time to administer the assessment one-on-one. Coordinate with your building math interventionists to help administer the assessment. It takes approximately 4 minutes per student to complete the assessment.
Gather 13 counting objects of the same color (square tiles, pattern blocks, connecting cubes, etc.)
Make copies of the Teacher Dialogue and Recording Sheet for each student. (if you have 2 screens or 2 computers you may be able to skip this step and enter directly into the Data Entry Form.)
Administer the assessment to individual students.
When you have completed all assessments, enter the data in the Data Entry Form.
Email Susan Bergman when all of your student data has been entered on the data entry form.
As a reminder, this assessment is based on Kindergarten curriculum (so it should be content the students are already familiar with).
Directions for Students (whole group):
Over the next few days we will be doing a little bit of math one-on-one with either me or another teacher. We are doing this so I can see what you already know and can plan our learning for the year.
Directions for Students right before they are assessed:
Do you something to write on and something to write with? We are going to do some math and I want you to do this without any help so I can see all the great things you can do by yourself! If you don't know something, don't worry we will learn it this year.
