In 1999, freshman Danielle Passingham and sophomore Devin Huggins took a look at the Wake Forest a cappella scene and decided there was something missing. All groups were single-sex and/or strictly religious-based. Danielle and Devin thought it was too stale and conventional. Wake Forest needed something fresh and exciting.  

So, Innuendo was born that year as Wake Forest's first co-ed a cappella group, pushing the envelope and transforming the scene. Innuendo brought in singers from all backgrounds, blending genres and bending a cappella norms. Rehearsing early on in the tiny piano rooms of Kitchin Residence Hall, Innuendo eventually found its home in Scales M308. Later that year, they came together to record their first CD, using Danielle's garage as the studio. 

Since then, Innuendo has been the flagship a cappella group of Wake Forest, working hard to uphold the inclusivity of its founders, the musicianship of its first recordings, and the community spirit that breathes through the group today. 

Innuendo's first concert, titled "BIG EFFIN CONCERT" , was a overwhelming success among the studeny body, so the name stuck!
