Corporate entities offer wellness programs with intentions to reduce health risks & increase productivity. These programs include varied exposure to health information via web portals, literature, seminars, and workshops. 

One study suggested that an individual's HL level could predict or determine the likelihood of participation in wellness programs - thus perhaps creating a barrier even prior to the inquiry stage.

In a review of progress in 2018, Don Nutbeam reported that health care organizations' methods of providing educational materials in formats supportive of varying HL levels are working.


In 2018, an academic medical library partnered with a public library to help the public library staff understand the best ways to talk to patrons when answering health related questions.
