If you answer YES to the following questions, then you should take an ALEKS PPL assessment during the summer. You will also take a proctored ALEKS assessment during orientation.
Are you interested in STEM, the Business School, or Pre-med?
Do you plan to take MTH 111 or CHM 111 sometime in your first year?
If you are not sure, reach out to mathandstatscenter@wfu.edu and we are happy to help.*
Click the button to take an unproctored ALEKS PPL assessment. Be sure not to use a calculator or any outside resource in order to obtain the most useful information about how to help you successfully complete MTH 111 and/or CHM 111.
You will take a proctored assessment in ALEKS PPL during orientation week. It's the same assessment, so any unproctored assessment you take at home will be great practice! Click the button to sign up for a time to take the proctored assessment.
Your score gives you some idea of your level of preparation for MTH 111 or CHM 111 and it helps us advise you on how to succeed your first year at Wake Forest.
Don't stress about the score! It does not determine your enrollment and you have chances to improve your score.
To improve your score: Work in the learning modules for at least 6 hours or more, especially if your initial score was below 50 (below 80 for MTH 111). Working thoughtfully for 6 hours in ALEKS PPL learning modules increases assessment scores significantly and increase your chances of success in your classes!
Before the start of classes: Take another assessment (you may take up to 3) and try to reach the score you want. Again, don't stress about the score. It doesn't determine your class, it just allows us to provide you with the support you need.
Orientation week: You will take an ALEKS PPL assessment during orientation at the designated time.
For MTH 111: aim for a score of at least 80. More information.
For CHM 111: aim for a score of at least 50. More information.
