For students enrolling in MTH 111 and/or CHM 111
AP CALCULUS SCORES: If you are waiting for your AP Calc score as a possible replacement to MTH 111 (and you do not plan to take CHM 111), you do not need to take an ALEKS assessment right away. Please wait until you receive your score. If you get a qualifying score and you plan to use it towards MTH 111 credit, then you do not need to take an ALEKS assessment. Otherwise:
When you are ready to start ALEKS PPL(you are definitely planning to take MTH 111 or CHM 111), click the button below*.
*If you use a screen reader, email mathandstatscenter@wfu.edu before clicking the button.
ALEKS PPL will get you where you need to go!
ALL MTH/CHM 111 students: take a pretest in NOW! in ALEKS PPL by June 25, 2025. Don't stress about the score! You have other chances to improve your score. You may remain enrolled in MTH 111 regardless of your score.
To improve your score: Work in the learning modules for at least 6 hours or more, especially if your initial score was below 50 (below 80 for MTH 111). Working thoughtfully for 6 hours in ALEKS PPL learning modules increases assessment scores significantly and increase your chances of success in your classes!
Before the start of classes: Take another assessment and try to reach the score you want. Again, don't stress about the score. It doesn't determine your class, it just allows us to provide you with the support you need.
For MTH 111: aim for a score of at least 80. If you plan to take MTH 111 during your first year, then you need to take an ALEKS PPL assessment ASAP! More info here.
For CHM 111: aim for a score of at least 50. More information.
