What are the rules and regulations of CLASS?
Students should abide by the rules, regulations, and policies of WHS, as stated in the WHS Student/Parent Handbook. Violation of these rules, including the attendance policy, may result in immediate dismissal from the CLASS program. Any offense that would cause a student to be suspended during the regular school year will result in student’s immediate dismissal from the WHS CLASS program. WHS books and materials must be returned at the end of the course. Students are expected to bring their school-issued chromebooks to class.
What is the difference between the Transition to WHS course and the summertime freshmen orientation?
The school-led WHS orientation is a one-day session at the end of the summer. Incoming freshmen will meet WHS administrators and learn about their new school. WHS seniors will give a tour of WHS to 9th graders and students new to WHS. Students will learn about different clubs, sports, and activities. On orientation day, staff will be in the building, so students may be able to meet some of their teachers that day. Almost all 9th graders attend this orientation.
The Transition to WHS course is a one-day session (9 am to 12 pm) led by a WHS teacher. During this course, students will:
take smaller, more personalized tours
walk a typical schedule
compare and contrast SDMS vs. WHS
compare/contrast underclassmen vs. upperclassmen
get a better understanding of credits
receive information about the class advisor
meet and greet with athletics and administration
learn about support staff including school counselor and what to expect during the freshman interview
have a Google Classroom of resources to walk away with
