Winds, Brass , Percussion:
In order for a student to be selected for early participation in the WHS Marching Band, a student must:
Attend spring experience camps, if applicable for the sections & participate in the Memorial Day Parade
Be enrolled for the entire school year in the SDMS Band Program.
Have the recommendation of the Middle School or Elementary School Band Director(s)
Have shown leadership and maturity in their respective band program.
Have the means to attend and participate in the spring and summer pre-camp rehearsals, band camp, and all fall season rehearsals.
Be physically capable of performing their role as a Marching Band member.
Meet the assessment requirements for membership set by the WHS Directors and staff members at the Memorial Day Parade.
Additionally, it is suggested that students also have:
Taken or Currently Take Private Lessons
Full Parent/Guardian support
Once a prospective Junior Eagle has attended the spring experience camps, an assessment will be conducted by the WHS Directors and staff during the Memorial Day Parade. WHS Marching Band Staff will directly contact families about Junior Eagle membership and next steps.
Once considered a member of the “Pride of Wethersfield Eagle Marching Band”, the Junior Eagles will be expected to attend all rehearsals, and performances with the WHS Marching Band.
For Color Guard:
In order for a student to be selected for early participation in the WHS Marching Band and Color Guard, a student must:
Attend spring experience camps & participate in the Memorial Day Parade
Have the recommendation of a Middle School Teacher or Activity Supervisor (example dance instructor)
Have shown leadership and maturity in their school.
Have the means to attend and participate in the spring and summer pre-camp rehearsals, band camp, and season rehearsals.
Be physically capable of performing their role as a Color Guard member.
Meet the assessment requirements for membership set by the WHS Directors and staff members at the Memorial Day Parade.
Be enrolled in 8th grade at SDMS
Additionally, it is suggested that students also have:
Prior experience with dance, gymnastics, cheerleading etc….
Full Parent/Guardian support
