Reader's Workshop
This year, Kindergartener readers will learn how to:
Point to each word on the page (pointer power)
Use their "super power" reading strategies to solve tricky words.
Recognize sight words
Follow the pattern of the books
Reading Comprehension Strategies: Retell stories, make connections to stories, answer questions about the stories, etc.
At home, Kindergarten readers benefit from listening to stories, being read to, reading familiar favorite story books, reading signs/environmental print, and reading books that are on their reading level. Reading books that are at your child's reading level helps boost confidence, work on decoding skills, recognize familiar words, and gives them the practice to use the different reading strategies they are learning. In addition to RazKids, below are lists of books offered through scholastic. Make sure to use our code!
