Westwood's Lateefah Franck Shares Inclusion Plans
Regional website Hometown Weekly published an inspiring look at METCO Director Lateefah Franck and the strategy she has proposed in her first year in Westwood. Her approach, her practices, and her goals are a valuable guide to best practices for anyone looking to strengthen their METCO program. As she points out, the more welcoming a school is for Boston students of color, the healthier it is for white resident students too. “When you’re supporting students that come from diverse backgrounds or backgrounds that are different from the typical resident student, what tends to start to happen is you start to tap into resident students who might not fit neatly and nicely into a typical resident mold, so you start to meet the needs of all of the students in your school community.” Read the whole article here.
