As part of our ongoing efforts to improve our capacity to respond effectively during emergencies, the district is expanding crisis training for all staff. This portion of the training includes two videos that you will watch through the training website, PublicSchoolWorks:
“Stop the Bleed: Save a Life”
“Active Shooter Response: Lockdown, Barricade, Escape, Counter Attack”
In addition you will be asked to review specific Westwood Public Schools Incident Mangement processes.
The link for Part 2 will be emailed to you directly from PublicSchoolWorks. Please be on the lookout for that communication.
Given the topics, we encourage you to think about when and where you watch these segments. Some people might prefer to complete these training sessions alone in a private and comfortable location, while others might prefer to watch in the company of a colleague. While it is upsetting even to think about some of the types of situations we will be considering, doing so can help us to improve our responsiveness and, hopefully save lives if we need to do so.
We will be following up on video training sessions with in-person opportunities to review specific topics and ask questions. If you have any immediate questions or concerns about safety and crisis management, please reach out to the district’s Director of Safety and Security.
The document below shows the key steps in signing on the PublicSchoolWorks.
This training site will be used for some ongoing PD as well as start-of-year trainings. Please reach out if you have any trouble accessing it.
