Prerequisites: Successful completion of 5th grade Math
In Math 6, students will apply and extend their previous understanding of numbers, multiplication/division and algebraic expressions. It focuses on integers, rational numbers and arithmetic expressions. Equations, inequalities, ratios and percentages are also studied.
7th Grade
Required
Two Semesters
Prerequisites: Successful completion of 6th grade Math
In Math 7, students will apply and extend their previous understanding of fractions. They will analyze and solve proportional relationships and percent problems. It also focuses on solving real-life mathematical problems using numerical and algebraic expressions/equations, random sampling and probability.
8th Grade
Required
Two Semesters
Prerequisites: Successful completion of 7th grade Math
In Pre-Algebra students will prepare for Algebra and explore concepts like functions, exponents and linear equations. It focuses on using functions to model relationships, solving systems of linear equations and analyzing equations and proportional relationships. Students will work towards understanding the connections between proportional relationships, lines and linear equations as well as topics such as congruence, similarity and the Pythagorean Theorem.
