The Guru - Richard Allington is a premier researcher, writer, and teacher of teachers. He has spent the better part of two decades researching reading achievement and providing insight into putting research-based findings into practice. His work encompasses reading volume, the importance of strong instruction, and the critical role of choice, voice, and just-right books play in reading development. Much of what we do in Reader's Workshop is based on his work. Some articles he has written:
"The Six Ts of Effective Elementary Reading Instruction" : http://www.readingrockets.org/article/six-ts-effective-elementary-literacy-instruction
"Every Child, Every Day" : http://www.ascd.org/publications/educational-leadership/mar12/vol69/num06/Every-Child,-Every-Day.aspx
