WIS Reading
Welcome to the WIS Reading Website! My name is Alex Bluestein, and I have been the Language Arts and Social Studies Curriculum Instructional Leader at WIS for 14 years. I have created this site to help guide you towards useful information, tips, and tools that support the literacy work we do every day.
In addition to the information on this site, I am often asked about the best ways for parents to support their children with reading at home throughout the school year. I would urge you to start by watching my Back To School Night presentation below, which contains important information, research, and suggestions to ensure students are reading at home as often as possible. Also, please view the presentation on the Summer Reading page for more ideas and tips.
Another important way for you to support your readers at home is to preview the books they choose to read in order to ensure the content and complexity is appropriate for them.
