School is challenging on students, Weston Middle School curriculum causes many children to take extra curricular classes to help improve their knowledge of subjects. 6th graders that transitioned to middle school say that there is a significant jump in the amount of freedom they have. Thanks to this newfound freedom, some 6th graders' social life has been improved by being able to see some people in classes that they couldn’t see before, this allows some kids to be able to enlarge their friend group.
Is Your Child at a School Good For Them?
Even though 6th graders have gained more freedom, something that has been widely complained about is the enforcement of some rules. Fellow 6th grader Raymond Liu says, “6th grade is scary because they enforce unnecessary rules.” For example, even though 6th graders are allowed to talk while going to classes, they’re not allowed to search up some things on the internet which sometimes gets in the way of their school work.
Even if 6th graders sometimes experience challenges because of the middle school rules and customs, each day is another learning day for them to adapt. Sebastian Chadbourne, another 6th grader says, “6th grade is survivable.” 6th graders may be unsure at the start of school, 6th graders feel that the transition to middle school is just like every other grade up, fun and a new start.
