Whats coming next?
Stay tuned for exciting news from Troop Troop 2144 - Dani, Lila and Lilianna are in process to earn their Silver Award. This project is to create a history trail marker at the McAndrew’s Estate in the Town of Cortlandt near Oscawana Island. Dani, Lila and Lilianna hiked the property and saw that McAndrew’s Estate has been slowly withering away since the seventies yet there is history to tell to anyone that is curious to know or this that hike the trails there. They want to help tell some of the story about the people that lived there. While it is currently hard to imagine that this property was a working farm with an active horse race track, we are hoping that by making these history tail markers it will give people who hike the now woods some insight to the past of the land they are on. When we are finished with our researching, designing, and installation of the history trail markers we will give a tour to show what we have done.
Special shout out to the Westchester Parks Foundation Graffiti Squad and West Lakeland Girl Scouts for a great effort in restoring the beautiful 1907 Cow Barn ruin.

Correction! The “Bell Cow” (literally had a bell around it’s neck) was named Columbine. The cows lived in the upper level of the Cow Stable and Mussolini, the bull lived outside.
