This course introduces students to the essential skills and knowledge required for computer maintenance and repair. Through a series of structured units, students will develop hands-on experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting PCs, operating systems, networks, and mobile devices, while also exploring cybersecurity, customer support, and emerging technologies. Emphasis will be placed on developing diagnostic thinking, safety awareness, and workplace professionalism to prepare for both technical roles and real-world IT support environments.
An integrated approach of teaching and learning is provided as students apply their academic foundations of math, science, reading and communication skills to enhance their technical knowledge, analytical, and problem-solving skills that are associated with functions within computer engineering occupations. Students will use appropriate tools to produce efficient systems. Advanced critical thinking skills will be developed with applied interpersonal relations, life skills, business, economic, and leadership skills, as well as workplace employability skills.
The course will utilize simulation platforms to learn computer maintenance and repair through lab exercises. This course is aligned to the industry standard exam preparation for the CompTIA A+ certification.
