The Intro to Coding course is designed to introduce students to the software development process and coding focusing on JavaScript programming language. The course aims to develop student skills in program logic formulation and basic programming, with an emphasis on helping students develop logical thinking and problem-solving skills. In this course, students will develop the skills needed to create functional programs in JavaScript.
An integrated approach to teaching and learning is provided as students apply their academic foundations of math, science, reading and communication skills to enhance their technical knowledge, analytical, and problem-solving skills that are associated with functions within software development occupations. Students will learn effective methods in troubleshooting problems using good communication skills by asking key questions, listening for technical problems and, in turn, explaining problems in an understandable way. Students will also use appropriate tools to produce software code and design applications. Advanced critical thinking skills will be developed with applied interpersonal relations, life skills, business, economic, and leadership skills, as well as workplace employability skills.
