Trimester 1
Spiral Review
Students will review vocabulary and concepts previously learned in sixth and seven grades.
Unit 1 Family. -Express who is in our family
Students will learn vocabulary for family members to be able to introduce their family and friends. Students will also practice using possessive adjectives in context to be able to express ownership of things. In class students will also practice basic question formation to enable them to exchange basic information on this topic.
Unit 2 At Home -Express where they are at home and what they are doing
Students will learn vocabulary for homerooms in the house to be able to say where they and other family members are in the house. In addition students will be introduced to the concept of using "ing" in Spanish to be able to express what they are doing in the house. In class students will also practice basic question formation to enable them to exchange basic information on this topic.
Trimester 2
Unit 3 Furniture & Home chores. -Express where things are in the house and chores they have to do
Students will learn vocabulary for furniture around the house to be able to express where things are located using vocabulary for prepositions. In this unit students will also be able to express chores they and others do at the house. In class students will also practice basic question formation to enable them to exchange basic information on this topic.
Unit 4 At the Restaurant. -Express foods they eat and place food orders
Students will learn vocabulary for food to be able to express foods they eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Students will also be able learn simple phrases to be able to order and pay for their food at a restaurant. In class students will also practice basic question formation to enable them to exchange basic information on this topic.
Trimester 3
Unit 5 Understand main uses in Spanish for the verb to be (Ser y Estar)
In this unit students will learn that in Spanish there are 2 verbs for the verb "to be" in English. Students will practice main and familiar uses for "ser" and "estar" in context to recognize which verb needs to be used. In class students will also practice basic question formation to enable them to exchange basic information on this topic.
Unit 6 What were you doing? Action verbs with past progressive
Students will review vocabulary for action verbs, places, homerooms, food, chores, to be able to express actions they were doing for themselves and others. In class students will also practice basic question formation to enable them to exchange basic information on this topic.
