This schedule is a suggested way to manage your day. Teachers will post assignments in ManageBac during the scheduled class times and are available if you need to contact them. Please check the “stream and resource” section of ManageBac for the latest information from teachers including messages, assignments, videos, etc.
If asked to do so, please “virtually attend” class via Google Meet. If you cannot attend, check ManageBac to see what you have missed. If a Google Meet is not scheduled during the class time, use that time to work on your assignments. The afternoons and Fridays are additional opportunities to finish work, schedule tutoring, and collaborate with others to study.
Learning experiences will be posted in the "stream and resources" section of ManageBac for each class in accordance with the A/B schedule.
Teachers will be available during schedule class times which can include video conferencing through Google Meet when needed.
Teachers will be available via email from 8:30 am-3:30 pm, responding to parent requests within 24 hours.
Timely feedback for reflection and learning will be provided.
Teachers will strike a balance between online/digital learning experiences and off-line learning experiences. An IB education requires that we deliver varied learning experiences that support the development of all five Approaches to Learning skills. Students will have time away from their devices.
The secondary distance learning experiences will allow for flexibility, giving families the autonomy to design routines suitable for their household based on their personal family dynamics. Westlake Academy faculty recommends consistency through the completion of daily mini-lessons and assignments.
Teachers will design learning experiences that:
are easily understood and can be supported or facilitated by parents/guardians.
provide opportunities for students to work collaboratively through a virtual environment.
provide time and opportunities for students to have ownership over their learning.
take into consideration IEP and 504 accommodations, in coordination with the Special Education teacher and the 504 Coordinator.
