Competition Overview
Each entrant will compete in four categories:
1) The Hunt
2) Martial Display
3) Precision Equitation
4) Art
For the Hunt and Martial Display I want to give riders a chance to demonstrate their best, but not be completely focused in one area. You will pick one form for each (it cannot be the same form for both).
The third category, Precision Equitation, will be the same course for all riders, but you will be able to choose more advanced aspects to challenge you and your steed.
The last category is up to you. Show us some aspect of what you are proud of about you and your companion. It should take less than 2 minutes.

Description of Course and Options
The Hunt
One target per attempt. Score is according to the ring of the target, if the ring line is completely broken the higher point value will be given.
Options (Pick One):
Spear: Target is a “pig” with an archery style target; use standard society-approved pig sticking technique. If lance is extracted the mark on the target can be scored.
Bow: Target is a standard hay bale with an archery target
Javelin: Target is a hay bale with an archery target
Martial Display
Multiple targets per attempt.
Options (Pick One):
Lance: Quintain; Strike two times, once from each direction
Spear: Spear two rings in a row
Sword: Four heads stands; setup offset. Can be run straight or winding, must alternate strike to right and left
Bow: Two archery targets; may start with one or two arrows in hand
Precision Course
All riders attempt the same course. You may choose added difficulty for each element.
Elements (Complete All):
Bridge: Trotting poles on with a tarp on either side. Banners for extra diff.
Gate: Rope gate pole on each side. Trigger dogs for extra diff.
Tarp: Tarp, add difficulty bottles and pool noodle on top. Enter front exit opposite side.
Maze: Trotting pole pattern for side pass/yields. Pikes for extra diff.
Course Navigation Order:
1. Enter riding forward crossing bridge
2. Stop at gate. Side pass to barrel
3. Ride a circle around barrel at chosen gate.
4. Side pass opposite side back to gate.
5. Open gate, pass through, close gate.
6. Traverse tarp pit.
Scoring
The Hunt: Precision is scored by ring 1 for outer ring, 2 up to 5 for center ring.
Martial Display: Hitting half the targets is 2 points out of 5. Getting all targets if full 5 points.
Precision Obstacle Course: 2 points for basic level, 5 for advanced.
This scoring system encourages safety, as scoring higher by going faster but missing will not exceed a perfect run at a slower gait. Deductions of one point will be made for horses leaving the course or riders leaning out of position/late lowering of lance/loss of weapon, ect.
Multipliers: standing still or walking with stops has no multiplier; Minimum speed of a constant walk is a x2 multiplier; Minimum speed of a constant trot is a x3 multiplier; Constant Canter x4 multiplier.
The Hunt (Pick one of the following options; 20 points max)
Spear- pig stick (precision target flat on ground covered with archery target)
Bow- precision target
Javelin- precision target
Martial Display (Pick one of the following options which you did not do for the Hunt; 20 points max)
Lance- Quintain (twice per attempt)
Spear- Rings (2 rings per attempt)
Sword- Heads/Reeds course (4 per attempt)
Bow- multiple targets (2 targets per attempt)
Precision Equitation (Multiple obstacles, each one is worth points based on the gait at which it is completed and if any additional difficulty options are selected; 40 points max).
Bridge (banners for added difficulty)
Gate (howling dogs for added difficulty, dogs triggered before rider approaches)
Pit (filled with rubbish for added difficulty, plastic bottles)
Maze (between trotting poles; may add pool noodle pike rows for added difficulty)
The Art (Show us what you and your steed are proud of; 20 points max)
Competitor's Choice. Suggestions include: Work (dragging objects; roping), Obstacles (either at speed or precision); Jumps, Formal Dressage (Spanish walk; collected movement, ect). This part is scored at the discretion of the Crown, it is to show off something we might not see in a normal championship.
