Here at WHS, our performing ensembles feature more than 50% of the High School student population. We offer the following courses and ensembles:

(Follow this link for our WHS Music Course Catalog)

All students enrolled in Concert Band or one of the Bands will be enrolled in our weekly lesson program. Students receive one period of instruction per week in like-voice or like-instrument lesson groups.

Co-Curricular Ensembles: (meet outside of the regularly scheduled 11 period day)

  • Jazz Ensemble

  • Jazz Lab

  • Percussion Ensemble

  • Westhill Singers

  • AmBASSadors (choral - tenor/bass ensemble)

  • Sirens Ensemble (choral - soprano/alto ensemble)

  • Octane (vocal jazz/pop)

We also offer two music electives that rotate every other year. Those courses are a one credit Music Theory course, during the day, for those students looking to expand their knowledge regarding Western Music and all of its components: historical, literacy-based, and creative and a one credit Studio Music course, for students looking to explore skills related to careers in the music industry: audio editing, sound engineering, audio recording, and music production.

Our students have the opportunity to perform in the Fall Drama, Spring Musical, in Instrumental Chamber Music ensembles, Pep Band, Pit Band, Graduation Band, and other ad-hoc ensembles.

WHS also has an active chapter of the Tri-M National Honor Society for Music for those students enrolled in Band or Chorus who demonstrate exceptional character, leadership, performance skills, and who seek to give back to the community through music.

There is an opportunity for students to engage in audio engineering, audio recording, music production, and video production through the participation in the Audio Production and Engineering Club. The club meets every Friday in the auditorium. For students who are interested in joining the tech crew for drama productions, the skills required for that team are taught in this club.
