Welcome to the Onondaga Hill Middle School Music Department Webpage! Here, you will find information about the musical opportunities available to students at OHMS.

All of our OHMS Students have the opportunity to enroll in optional performing ensembles in grades 5-8, as well as, study music in General Music classes at the fifth and sixth grade levels.

We offer the following performing ensembles:

All Ensembles at OHMS rehearse every other day during the regularly scheduled school day.

• 5th-6th Grade Chorus (Mrs. Cieply)

  • separate 5th grade and 6th grade chorus; rehearses in two sections in school

  • performs as a combined choir for concerts

• 7th-8th Grade Chorus (Mrs. Cieply)

  • mixed 7/8; rehearses in two sections in school

  • performs as a combined choir for concerts

• 5th Grade Band (Mr. Van Epps)

• 6th Grade Band (Mrs. Buell)

• 6th Grade Extra Band (Mr. Van Epps)

  • • intended for students who do not participate in 6th grade chorus

• 7th/8th Grade Band (Mrs. Buell)

  • mixed 7/8; rehearses in two sections in school

  • performs as a combined band for concerts

All students enrolled in the band program will be enrolled in our weekly lesson program. Students receive one period of instruction per week in like-instrument lesson groups.

Co-Curricular Ensembles: (meet outside of the regularly scheduled school day)

• OHMS Jazz Ensemble

• OHMS Harmonizers (choral)

Our students have the opportunity to perform in the Spring Musical, in Instrumental Chamber Music ensembles, Pep Band and other ad-hoc ensembles.
