You will learn about the history, geography, economics, and governments of the Eastern Hemisphere nations.
We will be using the TCI, History Alive, Ancient World Curriculum. TCI’s curriculum has been specially curated to meet state standards, create engagements in lessons and help students better understand the content through hands-on and experiential exercises.
Cooperative learning and collaboration in class and online will be the focal point of instruction as well as independent assignments. Promoting student discussion, critical thinking and group problem solving will be heavily emphasized.
We will be incorporating Project Based Learning into our social studies class. Project Based Learning is a teaching method in which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an authentic, engaging and complex question, problem, or challenge.
Students will create and utilize maps to represent varied political zones, climate zones, landforms, bodies of water, and resources of the Eastern Hemisphere.
Students will explore the geographic settings and accomplishments of early civilizations, cultures and empires by examining archaeological and historical evidence.

ABSENCES: (Click the arrow for more info).
As a 6th grader, you have the responsibility to find out what you missed and are responsible for completing it. You can do this by checking your mailbox file upon your return, checking Google Classroom, calling a good academic buddy, staying IA when you return, and checking with your teacher.
If you are absent from school, you will be allowed additional time to complete missed assignments and still receive full credit.
Absences vary and are taken case by case. Please reach out to the teacher.
A good rule of thumb is, an extra day is given for each day absent.
You need to notify your teacher PRIOR to a lesson if you will not be in class that day.
You need to hand in any work at the time.
You are responsible for making up any classwork and homework that you will miss due to a lesson.
It is always a good idea to stay IA on the day of a lesson to get any help needed from the teacher.
