We will be using i-Ready Classroom. . The goal of the program is to help students develop a deeper understanding of concepts and skills. Lessons build on prior knowledge, so students are able to make connections within and across grade levels.
In sixth grade, the Common Core standards that we will focus on are:
Ratios and Proportional Relationships
The Number System
Expression and Equations
Geometry
Statistics and Probability.
The content focuses on procedures, concepts, and applications in four critical areas:
connecting ratio and rate to whole number multiplication and division and using concepts of ratio and rate to solve problems;
completing understanding of division of fractions and extending the notion to the system of rational numbers, which includes negative numbers;
writing, interpreting, and using expressions and equations; and
developing understanding of statistical thinking.
Mathematical Practices
Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.
Reason abstractly and quantitatively.
Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.
Model with mathematics.
Use appropriate tools strategically.
Attend to precision.
Look for and make use of structure.
Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.

ABSENCES: (Click the arrow for more info).
As a 6th grader, you have the responsibility to find out what you missed and are responsible for completing it. You can do this by checking your mailbox file upon your return, checking Google Classroom, calling a good academic buddy, staying IA when you return, and checking with your teacher.
If you are absent from school, you will be allowed additional time to complete missed assignments and still receive full credit.
Absences vary and are taken case by case. Please reach out to the teacher.
A good rule of thumb is, an extra day is given for each day absent.
You need to notify your teacher PRIOR to a lesson if you will not be in class that day.
You need to hand in any work at the time.
You are responsible for making up any classwork and homework that you will miss due to a lesson.
It is always a good idea to stay IA on the day of a lesson to get any help needed from the teacher.
