EduProtocols 1: Teach Better - Work Less - Achieve More
Tuesday, July 18, 8:30 - 11:30, WGHS LGI
This is the original EduProtocols workshop that was featured last summer as well as during various Superintendent's Conference Days during the 2022-23 school year. Featured EduProtocols include some of the most universally beloved activities that your students will enjoy:
Frayer a Friend (icebreaker using the Frayer vocabulary template)
Fast and Curious (pre-assessment that is used to teach vocabulary through repetition)
Thin Slides (one image/one word/one slide for students to create a visual representation of their understanding of a topic)
Cyber Sandwich (digital think-pair-share with individual student accountability)
Sketch and Tell (non-linguistic representation of a topic with a written explanation)
Iron Chef (digital jigsaw in which every student quickly presents to the class)
Great American Race (individual "who/what am I" slide creation followed by collaborative teams competing to guess vocabulary)
Who Should Attend?
Teachers who have not yet attended the original EduProtocols workshop and are interested in using some of the BEST introductory EduProtocol strategies for low-prep/high-impact teaching and learning.
EduProtocols 2: The Catalina Lesson Mixer

Interested in leveling-up your EduProtocol game? This is the workshop for you! Like the original EduProtocols workshop, time will be spend "playing school" as you assume the role of a student to see how EduProtocols might be deployed in the classroom. Featured EduProtocols will support a variety of reading, writing, and research skills that leverage the 4Cs: Creativity, Collaboration, Communication, and Critical Thinking:
Thick Slides (students create and present a "research" slide from a given template )
Number Mania (students crowd-source data about a topic and individually create an infographic to demonstrate their learning)
ParaFLY (paraphrasing activity with instant whole-class formative assessment)
Retell in Rhyme (more paraphrasing as students create a series of rhyming couplets to synthesize the main idea of a given topic)
Primary Source p*ARTS (students use a template to analyze primary source documents)
Archetype Four Square (students apply the Frayer model to people rather than vocabulary)
Game of Quotes (a fun way to conduct a close read of a complex text)
Word Up (vocabulary instruction for the 21st century that tasks students with representing concepts with memes, gifs, and images)
Who Should Attend?
All K-12 teachers are welcome to attend, even if they haven't attended the original EduProtocols workshop. Teachers in grades 3-12 might get the most out of the EduProtocols that are featured in this workshop. Secondary Humanities Teachers, especially Social Studies Teachers--you won't want to miss this one!
EduProtocols 3: Prestige Worldwide

K-6 Teachers, this is the EduProtocol workshop you've been waiting for! Featured EduProtocols will support literacy and math instruction:
Frayer - Fast & Curious - Repuzzler (series of EduProtocols to promote student mastery of academic vocabulary)
Game of Quotes (a fun way to conduct a close read of a complex text)
8 p*ARTS (students use a fun/funny image as a stimulus as they break down the 8 parts of speech to describe what is happening in the image)
Random Emoji Power Paragraph (a FUN way to grow students' writing skills and assess the whole class in real-time)
Math Reps (students use a template to exercise their number-sense skills)
3-Act Math (students enhance their problem-solving skills as they make a prediction and adjust their thinking as more information is revealed)
The Chatterbox (based on the classic TV gameshow, Password, students work in teams to discuss vocabulary)
Convince Me That (students are given the correct answer to a math problem and are given time to explain WHY that's the correct answer)

Staying in Control: How Relay Classroom Can Help You Manage Student Online Activity

Come check out how to use ClassLink for seamless technology integration! No more remembering passwords or helping students log in.....instead, let Launchpad do the work! No need to set up classes for resources such as Freckle, Amplify, DeltaMath, Seesaw and others. Classlink manages this for you. Students forget their password - you can reset it for them through Classlink. Topics covered will include the Launchpad screen and how to customize it and how to use the App library for students and staff. We will also explore the Teacher Console where you can view student analytics, assign your own resources to your students and reset student passwords.

We use LinkIt as our Computer-based assessment system for grades 3-8. Here is a snippet of what Link It is: The LinkIt! platform is an assessment management, data analytics, and intervention support solution created by a diverse team of K-12 educators, technologists, and data experts dedicated to improving student performance and streamlining implementation processes. Basics would be for new LinkIt users, and Advanced would be for teachers that have used the system but would like to add assessments and use the more advanced features of the platform.

ActivPanel Orientation and Software Solutions
Wednesday, August 9th, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM (one-hour break for lunch on your own), location TBD
Learn how to maximize the potential of your ActivPanel with the guidance of Andrea Silvestrini from Promethean. The morning session will cover orienting you to your ActivPanel, including hardware fundamentals, menus, and the Promethean Suite of apps. During the afternoon, time will be spent showcasing activities and tools to support your classroom instruction. Time will be set aside in the afternoon for Q&A.
