What we call pulses are what you know as the nutritionally-dense, edible seeds of legumes including dry peas, beans, lentils and chickpeas. The word pulse, comes from the Latin word puls meaning thick soup.
Known as health powerhouses, pulses pack a serious punch when it comes to their dietary benefits. Pulses are rich in important nutrients including fiber, protein, folate, potassium and iron.

Mediterranean diet ranked best; keto near bottom of list
U.S. News & World Report's list of the best diets for 2020 ranked the Mediterranean diet first for the third straight year, while the keto diet came in next to last among the 35 plans considered. Registered dietitian Lisa Drayer said she was not surprised the Mediterranean diet ranked first because it is easy to follow and includes a healthful eating lifestyle.
Some students created their own website to share favorite family recipes.
PUMPKIN YOGURT DIP
Put in mixing bowl:
32 oz container vanilla Greek yogurt
1 cup pumpkin puree
1-2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
Mix all ingredients together, put in serving bowl and enjoy with your choice of dipper!
We made this in class. I would decrease the amount as this makes a lot!

Calorie quality may be more important than quantity, RD says
Registered dietitian Samantha Cassetty says people can't rely on the calories-in, calories-out formula for weight loss because dieting can lead to metabolism changes. Cassetty says the quality of calories eaten can be more important than the number consumed, trying to use exercise to make up for a bad diet doesn't work, and eating more vegetables can help with weight loss.
