Connie Barbour, Ed.D.

Connie Barbour is currently an assistant professor of nursing at Tanner Health System School of Nursing, University of West Georgia. She successfully defended her dissertation in September 2016 at the University of West Georgia obtaining an Ed.D. in Nursing Education. Her dissertation focus was on the flipped classroom teaching strategy and faculty development. She obtained her BSN from Northern Illinois University in 1992 and in 1998 obtained her MSN from Kennesaw State University with a specialty focus as a family nurse practitioner. She has 11 years’ experience as a nurse educator teaching in a variety of programs including LPN/Paramedic to RN, ADN, BSN, RN to BSN, MSN and EdD programs. She obtained the certified nurse educator designation from the National League of Nursing in March 2015. She is also Quality Matters certified and a certified VoiceThread educator. She currently teaches an informatics and technology course in the MSN program and distance education in nursing education in the doctoral program as well as undergraduate research.

Kathleen Barrett, Ph.D.

Dr. Barrett joined the University of West Georgia as a Lecturer after receiving her Ph.D. in Political Science from Georgia State University and an LLM in International Human Rights Law and Practice from the University of York. Her research focus is on international and comparative politics, with a particular focus on the national application of international human rights law. Current and recent research efforts include a comparative study of torture, Native American efforts before the United States Supreme Court, and constitutional court application of international human rights law, transitional justice, and judicial corruption. Her dissertation studied the transition of politics from communism to democracy in Central Eastern Europe as reflected in the relationship between the Constitutional Court, the Legislature and human rights.

Peter Berryman is an instructional designer with Georgia Southern University. His background is diverse with degrees in photography, design, and communications as well as professional experience in web design, public relations, and teaching graphic design courses -- both face-to-face and online since 2003. Peter’s interest in Web accessibility was sparked during a time when he became legally blind for two years. Happily, his vision was restored but Peter gained a significant appreciation for the daily obstacles persons with vision impairments face.

Katie Bridges, M.Ed.

Katie Bridges is an Instructional Designer and Lead QM Coordinator at Georgia Highlands College in Cartersville, Georgia. Bridges earned a Bachelor’s of Science from Baker University in 2001 and Masters of Education Instructional Technology from University of Maryland University College in 2010. Bridges has a passion for instructional design, course development, and design as well as curriculum design and development. Bridges will begin her doctoral program at Valdosta State University in Fall 2017. Bridges is a F2F Facilitator for the APPQMR.

Angela Brodsky, MA

Angela Brodsky is an Open Education Resource Instructional Designer with eCampus. Angela holds a B.S. in Sociology and a Master of Arts in Sociology. She has taught sociology courses with the University of West Georgia since 2015 and joined the eCampus team in 2016. Angela lives in Carrollton, Georgia with her husband and mathematician, Brian. In her spare time, Angela enjoys crafting of all sorts, such as knitting, scrapbooking, painting, and baking.

Amanda Campbell, MA

After earning an M.A. in English in 2005, Mandi Campbell taught composition and literature courses in both face-to-face and online environments for thirteen years. A desire to become a better teacher led her to pursue and earn an Ed.S. in Instructional Technology. In 2018, she started working as an instructional designer. She focuses on helping faculty develop engaging and meaningful learning experiences for all students. She enjoys exploring new instructional technologies as well as finding innovative ways to use the ones that have been around for a while.

Heather Farley, Ph.D.

Dr. Heather Farley is an Assistant Professor of Public Management at the College of Coastal Georgia in Brunswick, GA. As the Lead Faculty for the Public Management program, she has helped to design and assess the online Non-profit Management and Leadership concentration in her program and continues to develop ways to deliver rich, interactive, and rigorous content in the online environment. Dr. Farley is a graduate of the 2017 College of Coastal Georgia Online Teaching Academy and serves on the College's E-Learning advisory board.

Lana Kempton, M.Ed.

Lana Kempton is an Instructional Technologist at Middle Georgia State University, working within the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning. She supports faculty and students by developing resources and workshops to further the understanding and implementation of educational technologies. She works to develop faculty and their pedagogical use of technology while also serving as a learning systems administrator. Lana is a graduate of the University of Georgia’s Instructional Design, Development, and Technology Masters of Education program.

Vincent King-Spezzo, Ed.D.

Dr. Vincent King-Spezzo is the learning and technology specialist in the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) at Georgia Tech. With more than 11 years of higher education experience in the USG, Vincent has served in various roles including that of faculty, instructional technology specialist, learning systems administrator, instructional design coordinator, and technology and pedagogy development facilitator. Vincent earned his Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction, an Ed.S. in Instructional Technology, and his master’s in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Valdosta State University. In his current role at Georgia Tech, Vincent develops resources and workshops to advance understanding and implementation of technologies in teaching and learning in order to help faculty further their pedagogical uses of technology to better serve their students. Vincent has a strong passion for technology and education and wishes nothing more than to utilize his years of experience to help improve the educational environment for both faculty and students.

Rolando (Roy) Marquez, Ph.D.

Dr. Rolando (Roy) Márquez is the Associate Director of the Center for Teaching Excellence and the Quality Matters Coordinator for Georgia Gwinnett College. Roy holds a Ph.D. in Instructional Technology from the University of Central Florida. Prior to his current appointment, he served as the CTE’s Assistant Director and Educational Technology Consultant. He came to Georgia Gwinnett College after serving as the Curriculum Development Specialist and Quality Matters Coordinator at Eastern New Mexico University. Roy began his career at the University of Central Florida where he served as the Technology Specialist for the College of Education and the Center for Research in Education, Arts, Technology and Entertainment. Roy also has worked in the public school system in New York and Florida, as well as in the corporate sector with several educational technology companies. He also serves as the Managing Editor for the International Journal on Technology Enhanced Learning. His current interests include looking at the relationship between the choice of instructional technology and media, design of learning environments and student achievement.

Lisa McNeal, Ed.D.

Dr. Lisa McNeal is the director of eLearning at the College of Coastal Georgia. Prior to working at Coastal Georgia, she worked as an instructional developer at Appalachian State University and served as the director of learning applications at Samford University. She has been leading faculty technology workshops for more than 12 years on topics such as how to use a course management system, online course development, digital storytelling, and other topics. Her areas of expertise include hybrid course development, designing engaging discussions, and providing feedback on written assignments. She holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and a Graduate Certificate in Women’s Studies from Appalachian State University. Dr. McNeal has worked in higher education since 1999 and taught first year students since 2007. She has taught courses focused on student success, social media, and more recently, issues related to food insecurity. Her teaching style is influenced by her love of technology, popular culture, and writing.

Camille G. Pace, MSAS

For the past eight and a half years, Camille has had the privilege of teaching at Georgia Highlands College (GHC) serving as the lead course developer for Math 2200 (Elementary Statistics) and three and a half years for eCore. Camille’s overall goal as an instructor and designer is to be continually fluid and adapt to the current student population she is serving. Using her background in Statistics, Camille has been included in grants at GHC and other USG intuitions including the USG STEM Pathway Program Grant, the STEM Education Improvement Plan Grant, USG ALG OER Introductory Statistics Grant, and the USG ALG OER Mathematics in Action Grant. While the grants take place outside of the classroom setting, they help impact our students with lower cost materials and more robust methods to help them have additional resources. Camille is currently in the final semesters of her doctoral coursework and will focus her research on building machine driven low-cost student retention models.

Kokila Ravi, Ph.D.

Kokila Ravi is a professor of English and currently serves as the Director of Online and Specialized Programs at Atlanta Metropolitan State College, a unit of the University System of Georgia (USG). A certified Quality Matters facilitator, she has conducted several Applying the Quality Matters Rubric training workshops in online course design and instruction. She has served as an instructor, mentor, and content expert for University System of Georgia’s online core curriculum program, eCore, since 2002. Currently, she teaches eMajor courses for the Bachelor’s degree program in Organizational Leadership. She is a certified Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) Counselor and is the Point of Contact for USG’s GoBackMoveAhead program that facilitates adult learners’ college completion. She teaches online courses in English composition and world literature. Her research interests include world literature, all aspects of distance education, and adult learning strategies, specifically in a distance learning environment.

Patricia Riley, MS

Patricia Riley is a lecturer with the Department of Criminology teaching exclusively for the online degree program. She graduated with an M.A. in Criminology from Florida State University. She also has an M.S. in experimental psychology from Middle Tennessee State University where she also did her undergraduate work in psychology. She specializes in online education and is a certified course developer and certified course instructor by the University of West Georgia. She is a certified peer review for Quality Matters, had a certificate in online teaching from Quality Matters and a certificate in instructional design from the Online Learning Consortium. Five of her online courses have earned 5 Star Certification from Quality Matters.

Sara Selby, MA

Sara Selby is a Professor of English and Academic Affairs Projects Specialist at South Georgia State College with more than twenty-five years of classroom experience. She holds a BA and MA in English from the University of Mississippi. Over the years, she has held a variety of administrative positions at both the former Waycross College and the current SGSC. She currently oversees SGSC’s Center for Teaching and Learning and is the point person for Distance Education and faculty development. She has been active in a number of USG initiatives, including Complete College Georgia, Affordable Learning Georgia, Gateways to Completion, and Liberal Education and America’s Promise.

Dr. Amy R. Austin is the Director of USG eCampus Online Faculty Development. Amy comes to USG from Western Governors University and has many years of experience in higher education. Amy's prior experience brings cutting-edge educational approaches to eCampus to guide faculty development and process improvement. Amy’s prior experience in higher education includes her serving as the Dean of the College of Adult and Professional Programs and as an Associate Professor of Management at Shorter University. Prior to joining the realm of Higher Education, Amy spent over 18 years in corporate America and has worked for companies such as Northrop Grumman, The Home Depot, Cooper Wiring Devices, and MeadWestvaco. Amy earned her Bachelor of Science (with a concentration in Finance) from Hampton University, her MBA from Philadelphia University, her MACC from Shorter University, and her Ph.D. in Organization and Management (with a specialization in Leadership) from Capella University. In her spare time, Amy serves as a reviewer for Clute Institute, Journal of Diversity and Management.

Beth Rene’ Roepnack, Ph.D.

Beth René Roepnack is a Senior Academic Instructional Support Specialist. In this role, she serves as a faculty mentor to eCore faculty and provides them with support to promote student engagement with the course materials, their peers, and their instructor. Previously, Beth René served as the Director of Online Faculty Development for UWG Online and has been teaching online courses since 1998. She has a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, a Master's Degree in Psychology, and is a certified instructor for two Quality Matters courses.

Ngoc is one of eCore's Instructional Designers. She holds an M.Ed in Educational Technology and a Ph.D. in Environment and Behavior from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Prior to joining eCore team in 2015, Ngoc worked as an Instructional Technology Consultant at University of Missouri-Columbia. She spends most of her free time taking photos of people and places.

Kristy is a Graphic Designer for USG eCampus. In this role, Kristy creates engaging and interactive content for eCampus students and faculty. She holds a BFA and M.Ed. from the University of West Georgia, as well as Graduate Certificate in Digital and Social Media from Kennesaw State University. In her spare time, Kristy enjoys home improvement projects, singing, and spending time with her family.
