Parenting class is a high school level elective class offered to juniors and seniors. It is being offered in the spring semester of the coming school year. Parenting will focus on child development and the choice to become a parent. It is a class designed to educate students on the positives and negatives of becoming a parent. It is designed to make them think, discuss and learn about how their choices both good and bad effect becoming an effective parent.
The class has book work, lectures, guest speakers and class discussion all designed to better educate students about becoming a parent.
The class final will be a Real Care Baby Simulator. This simulator will be taken care of by the student over a 3 day period to simulate the attention a infant needs. The simulators are lifelike and will definitely make student think about the needs of a baby. The final requires a three day commitment to the care and needs of a baby usually performed over a weekend. The students will be grades on the care of the simulator and this will be counted as the class final.
