Referral Process

All students in 2nd and 4th grade will be screened for Superior Cognitive identification through the use of state approved Cognitive Abilities Testing (CogAT). Students meeting set CogAT criteria will be assessed for Creative Thinking identification through the use of the state approved Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking (TTCT). 

All students in grades 2-10 will be screened and assessed multiple times a year for Specific Academic Ability identification in the areas of Math, Science, and Reading through the use of state approved Measures of Academic Progress (MAP testing).

For parents and teachers who would like to refer their child for gifted screening on an off-testing year, the following procedure has been put in place.
