Earth's changing Surface
Our first unit focuses on weathering, erosion, and other factors that cause the earth's surface to change. We'll discuss slow & fast earth changes. We will look at extreme weather & hazards like hurricanes and how they affect earth. Students will also learn how to stay safe when extreme weather hits home.
Plants
Our second unit focuses on plant and animal structures. We will look at plant parts, growth, reproduction, and how they protect themselves. We will plant seeds, observe their changes as they grow into plants, and learn how to take scientific notes.
Animals
When we turn our focus to animals, students will learn about the internal & external structures of animals. How they move, defend themselves, and reproduce, as well as how they respond to their environment will all be discussed.
Energy
Our last unit focuses on energy sources and how energy is transferred. We'll do lots of fun experiments testing out theories on how energy is transferred through collisions, sound, light, heat, and electric currents. Students will research one type of energy resource and share their knowledge with classmates.
