Our Review of Expectations and Classroom Rules.

This is the slideshow we used to guide our information on Thursday night. Whether you were able to be with us or not, feel free to contact us with about the slideshow contents, our conversation on Thurs., or with general questions.

Welcome!

It's almost time!  School starts on Wednesday and we hope you are as excited as we are to start the new school year.  Together, we are going to do great things!

4th grade is the best grade! This year, we are going to work hard, learn so many new things, and have a whole lot of fun.

This year, you will actually have 2 teachers! Ms. Keefe will be teaching you Language Arts and Science.  With Ms. Poirier, you will learn Math and Social Studies.  You will get to work in two classrooms and work with friends in both classes.  With two classes, we will have double the learning and double the fun!

Together we will discover the explorers and travel the United States regions, experiment with energy, learn about plants and animals, and dive into volcanoes and earthquakes (not literally!).  We will learn big multiplication, division, and a whole lot more about fractions.  We will also read a lot of great books and discover the secrets of poetry.  It sounds like a lot, but we will be with you every step of the way!

Some stuff will be easy and some stuff will seem a little challenging, but that is OK! Together, we will make sure your 4th grade school year is a successful one. Our only requirement is that you come to school ready to try your best!

Please see the important information below and enjoy the last few days of summer.  See you soon!

For Parents…

Supply List

Below is the supply list that was sent home in mid-August.  We ask that all students have their materials in school by Tuesday, September 9. Parents should let their child's homeroom teacher know if assistance is needed in fulfilling this list.

Communication

First, please fill out the parent contact info. You will be filling out so much in the next couple of weeks, but this information is just for Ms. Keefe and Ms. Poirier and makes sure we can keep you updated on items related to the class and your child, specifically.

Next, please bookmark this website.  We will push all updates out from there and will keep them housed on the site.  We will be posting pictures of our students and classwork here as well.

Finally, we will be using “Remind” as one way to communicate with all families. Remind is a very convenient service that allows us to send out very quick, text reminders.  While the website (with a “new post” email) will be used for larger, lengthy updates, “Remind” will be used to send out quick reminders for items that easily get lost and buried in previous emails.  Information like, "Be sure your child brings his/her instrument tomorrow," "Science class outside tomorrow! Bring sunscreen,” or "Pajama day tomorrow!” are examples of what “Remind” will be used for.  This allows us to avoid creating a group text thread where all cell phone numbers are visible, etc.  We strongly recommend enrolling your mobile number in our “Remind” class.  Here are 2 ways to do so:

     or

(There is also an app for Remind that will send you “push notifications” messages rather than text messages, if you prefer.)

Email Ms. Poirier at bpoirier@westfordk12.us or Ms. Keefe at nkeefe@westfordk12.us with any and all questions!
