Period 5
Geometry
Geometry
Course Description:
This course is intended as a survey of Euclidean geometry concepts and the elements of logic. As with all geometry courses, there is a focus on precise use of language and careful application of the deductive process. There is limited emphasis on formal proofs and more embedded review of previously-taught concepts as students learn about the characteristics of shapes in two- and three- dimensional space and are introduced to basic geometric constructions. Scientific calculators are used regularly. This course is intended for students who thrive in an environment which incorporates a methodical, hands-on approach to learning mathematics.
