Dear 5V,
I am so excited that you are in class 5V! We have an awesome group of kids in the class and I know it’s going to be a great year!
What have you done this summer? Did you do anything that you wish to share with me? If so, send me an email at cventurino@westfieldnjk12.org! I’d love to hear all about your vacation. Please don’t feel pressured to write to me now because we definitely will have plenty of time to share stories and adventures during the coming weeks.
I have had a great summer with my family here in Westfield, vacationing on the South Carolina and New Jersey shores as well as visiting my sister in Chicago. Aside from that, I spent time doing things I love: reading; swimming; gardening; and learning! I will be teaching science to the entire fifth grade this year, so I did a deep dive into an already familiar curriculum in order to make science class extra special. I can't wait to share what I have learned with you. I have rested, relaxed, and refreshed my skills, so I am fully revved up and ready for fifth grade. I hope you are too!
The first day of school is Thursday, September 4. Fifth graders line up on the blacktop behind the school. Our class will be labeled on the blacktop, just like in previous years. I will be outside waiting to meet you on the first day.
Many kids want to be ready with every single supply possible on the first day of school. Please try not to worry about supplies on day one. What I WOULD like you to bring is:
ONE small item (not a photo or a collection of items, please:) that tells about you, tells about your summer, or is just something that you really like. We will be sharing these together in the morning on our first day.
A small snack for a snack break
Your lunch, with drink
A positive attitude!
Other Important Dates and Items:
Bring in a photo of your family on Friday, September 5.
Click on this link for the 5V Supply List, which can also be found on the 5V Class Webpage. Supplies should be brought into school by Monday, September 8.
I will be sending home directions on how to set up your binder for homework on September 8. You do not need to bring your assembled binder to school until September 9.
You can also find the specials schedule on our class webpage. I will be updating the webpage with other details as soon as they are given to me. Until then, feel free to email me with any questions that you may have. I will do my best to answer them with the information that I have been provided with at this time.
Enjoy the rest of your summer and get psyched for fifth grade! I can’t wait to see you!
Your new teacher,
Mrs. Venturino
