We continue to talk a lot about the calendar this year, including days of the week and months of the year. We also use the calendar as an opportunity to practice numbers up to 31 and colors, as well as to talk about holidays in Spanish-speaking countries. This year, we are adding weather to our calendar talk. We discuss the weather here as well as the weather in different Spanish speaking countries!

Students in grades 2-4 will be learning words to describe family members in Spanish class this year. We talked in class about how all families are different and how we won’t all need the same words to describe our own families. In class, students will also have the opportunity to talk about other families, famous families, cartoon families, or imaginary families if they don’t feel comfortable talking about their own.

Cognates
Did you know that there are tons of Spanish words that you can figure out just by looking at them? Students are learning about cognates, or as we sometimes refer to them, "Super C's". Check out the video with examples of cognates and false cognates.
