Survival is the state or act of continuing to live or exist in spite of an ordeal or difficult circumstance. There will be several events in our life that must be survived. It is not until we are faced with these events that we learn the strength we have within us. After we have survived the true test, it is not the event itself, but what we do once we have survived that matters.
Throughout this unit you will deepen your perspective of survival by reading, writing, speaking, presenting, and listening. These goals will help you succeed on the Performance-Based Assessment.
Summary
This is where you will find Assignment #1. This assignment will introduce you to a story of survival and captivate your attention about what survival means.
Summary
In this milestone you will find assignment 2 and 3. These are built around developing your reading strategies. Each assignment will help you prepare for performance tasks you will encounter later in the studio. Here you will also complete Performance Task 1 which centers around a collaborative discussion and Performance Task 2 showing your understanding of reading strategies.
Summary
In this section of the studio you will learn about narrative techniques through assignments 4-6. You will demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of these techniques through Performance Task 3.
Summary
Finally, you will begin the steps in developing your personal narrative about survival. The assignments 7-14 will help ensure you cover all aspects of a narrative and piece together your story. These assignments, along with the narrative techniques learned in Milestone 2, will lead to Performance Task 4 which demonstrates your ability to listen to and accept feedback and Performance Task 5 which is your final and completed story.
