Step 1: Open and watch the video on the right about creating a claim.
Step 2: Read the House on Mango Street pages 90-110. If you would like to listen as you read, select the video titled Mango Street 90-110
Step 3: Open the worksheet located under the video and complete the directions
Step 4: Turn in the completed worksheet in through Slate.

Step 1: Develop your introductory paragraph for your argument paper. (Remember the paper is an argument about the elements of your culture that have influenced you as an individual.)
Step 2: Type into the MLA formatted Google doc on the right. Be sure to update the information to be specific to you.
Step 3: Turn in through Slate.

Step 1: Open the google doc your started for your argument paper.
Step 2: Using your outline as a guide write paragraphs 2, 3, and 4.
Step 3: Make sure you use academic language throughout the paper.
Step 4: Be sure to justify your evidence with explanations.
Step 5: Create transitions to move your audience from one topic to another.
Step 6: When you have completed all of these steps turn the document in through Slate.
Before moving onto the next Milestone complete the following steps:
Open the Competency Dashboard in Slate.
Get your ELA credit slip.
Using the scores in the Competency Dashboard fill in your credit slip.
Conference with your teacher about your score and how that translates into a percentage.
If you are happy with your grade move onto the next Milestone. If you are unhappy revise a Performance task and resubmit. Once you are satisfied with your grade move onto the next Milestone.
