Domain Summary: Curriculum

Wes-Del Elementary keeps up to date on the newest and best curriculum offerings for our students. We consistently analyze and review our curricular materials to make certain all students are receiving age-appropriate, standards-based, and hands-on materials and activities. Curriculum audits are frequent and include a network of partners from teachers to parents to outside companies and businesses that help examine our materials.

2.1 Curriculum Integration

As we incorporate multiple forms of STEM Curriculum into our classroom instruction, we follow multiple Project Based Learning Models. The APB model of PBL aligns with our Project Lead the Way instruction. The 5E model of PBL aligns with our CREATE2THINK curriculum.

2.3 Computer Science

The Indiana DOE Computer Science standards are implemented & instructed with support from two of our teachers. Mr. Lamb teaches STEM Lab/Computer Science and Mrs. Johnson teachers Media/Computer Science.

The Indiana Employability Skills Standards are embedded into each of our STEM units taught throughout the course of the school year.

2.5 Access and opportunity for All Learners

Our special education teacher, Mrs. Eckerty, meets regularly with the grade levels during their planning. Mrs. Eckerty keeps the same standards, but adds accommodations and gives suggestions for classroom teachers on modifications. Mrs. Eckerty, and her staff push-in to the classrooms when servicing students.

100% of the teachers utilize a variety of assessment forms throughout the course of the year in their STEM and PBL instruction to gauge the level of learning for their students and to provide quality, intentional feedback.
