Techy guy....Mr. Hurt:
Hello, my name is Brock Hurt, I am the facilitator of the Tech Lab at Pioneer Middle School, in Wenatchee, Washington. I have been at Pioneer since 1993, teaching English and History for 10 years, and then switching to the Technology Lab in 2003. I've always loved technology, and love sharing different types of technology with the kids.
I graduated from Pacific Lutheran University, earning a major in Math and a minor in Science. I earned a Masters from City University in 1996. In 2014 I earned my National Board Certification in CTE (Career and Technology Education) with a focus in Instructional Technology.
In 2014, our curriculum switched over to PLTW (Project Lead the Way) and the course is now called Gateway to Technology for the 7th and 8th graders. It is a quarter of Robotics and a quarter of Modeling and Design (3D modeling). I also teach one period of AVID (Advanced Via Individual Determination), which is an AWESOME class where highly capable students are pushed to achieve more. Finally, I teach one Technology 1 class, which is mostly 6th graders and focuses on keyboarding proficiency and learning basic computer skills.
Outside of school I am interested in spending time with my kids, going camping, going to church and church related functions, and watching movies.
