Wellness Together School-Based Therapy Services Information
About Wellness Together
Wellness Together, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) national nonprofit corporation, delivering mental health services for students, families, and educators. Wellness Together brings years of experience partnering with school districts to increase awareness, advocacy, and access to student mental health supports.
Wellness Together Mental Health Specialists provide effective school-based mental health services on campus by increasing access to timely and evidence-based mental health services for students and families at no cost, regardless of Medi-Cal or insurance eligibility. The Wellness Together School-Based Therapy program helps students identify and regulate emotions, increase helpful coping skills, and reduce unhelpful thinking patterns through evidence-based interventions including Cognitive-Behavior Therapy.
Who Provides the Counseling?
Mental Health Services are provided by Mental Health Specialists (MHS's). MHS's are Licensed Therapists or Masters/post-Master's level Associates and trainees gaining experience toward clinical licensure with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (LMFT, LCSW, LPCC).
How Are Students Selected?
Students are referred to the Wellness Together School-Based Therapy program for individual and/or group counseling by their school counselor or designated school staff member. Mental Health Specialists may reach out to parents/guardians via phone or email to set up a phone call or meeting where a further explanation of services can take place.
What will Counseling for my Student Involve?
Counseling services are provided on the school campus in a confidential space or online and may take place before, during, or after school.
Each student referred to the Wellness Together School Mental Health Program may receive up to 13 individual weekly sessions or 6-8 weekly group sessions. Individual counseling sessions may include:
- Up to ten 40-minute sessions utilizing evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Curriculum-Based Intervention (CBI).
- Up to three Family Engagement sessions
- Warm hand-off to community resources if ongoing support is appropriate
