HOW IS THE SPRING PLAY DIFFERENT FROM A MUSICAL?

This is a non-musical play, meaning no singing or dancing, just acting! The actors create the world of the play through text, physicality, and movement. The format of this play is “vignette style,” which means lots of separate scenes with separate characters that all center around a theme, allowing for lots of different roles that are all about the same size. This is also a short, fast-paced process - we will only have five weeks of rehearsal!

WHAT IS THE PLAY ABOUT?

On May 10, 1994, an annular lunar eclipse made its way across the sky from Baja, California to the coast of northern Maine. In this play, we get a glimpse into the lives of people from all over the country as they pause to look up at the sky. You can read the complete play on the google classroom!

WHEN ARE REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES?

Regular rehearsals are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 2:40-5:00pm, although most actors will not be called for the entire rehearsal. A few conflicts will be accepted if they are reported on the contract, but since the rehearsal process is so short, too many conflicts may not be possible to accept.

Tech week rehearsals (100% mandatory, no exceptions) are May 8-15 (excluding Thurs, May 9), from 2:40-6:30pm. This may include a Saturday rehearsal on May 11, from 12-6pm.

Performances are May 16 and 17 at 7pm.

WHEN ARE AUDITIONS?

Auditions are on Tuesday, March 26 and Wednesday, March 27. You will sign up for a time on one of these days. Callbacks will be held on Thursday, March 28.

WHAT DO I NEED TO AUDITION?

1. Join the Google Classroom.

2. Have a grown up fill out a contract (you can find it on the google classroom!)

3. Sign up for an audition slot.

4. Prepare (that means memorize!) a one minute monologue. It can be any monologue you want, but if you need some help finding one, use one of the ones from the monologue packet that can be found under "Audition Materials" in the google classroom.
