PRIVATE SCHOOL APPLICATION PROCESS

The School Counseling Department at Wellesley Middle School helps families expedite the private school process by emailing transcripts to private schools.  Teachers and counselors write recommendations through the platform parents choose (Ravenna, Gateway, Boston Shared Forms). Students need to provide their own writing samples to private schools if required. Parent or guardian should encourage student to save samples prior to the application process, or retrieve previous samples.

Parents/Guardians, please complete the following 3 steps: 

1. Complete the WMS Private School Release of Information form and have your student complete the WMS Student Activity form.

2. When initiating your private school application through Ravenna or other platforms, enter Jennifer Suttill's email suttillj@wellesleyps.org as the contact for the release form/transcript requests

3. The student should let their counselor, English teacher and Math teacher know that they are applying to private schools and will receive a recommendation request.

• Most private schools have a January 15th deadline. Due to December vacation, please submit the release form and student activity form to the counseling assistant suttillj@wellesleyps.org no later than December 12th. 

Important information about Teachers and Counselor Recommendations

• Teachers and counselors appreciate when students reach out to them and ask them to complete a recommendation

• Teachers and counselors need at least two weeks notice prior to completing recommendations

• The counseling department will not ask teachers to write recommendations during school vacation weeks or summer break

• Middle School Teachers will only write recommendations for current Wellesley middle school students.
