Course Selection and Transition Information

Course selection and transitions to new grades are important processes for our students.  We hope you find the timeline below helpful. Please reach out to your child's counselor with any questions. 

5th to 6th Grade Course Selection and Orientation Information:

• TBD Parents of incoming 6th graders are invited to this evening to hear about our school. Please contact Kate Mahoney, Department Head of Counseling, with questions at mahoneyk@wellesleyps.org

• TBD: 5th graders visit WMS 

• TBD:  Due date for students to complete course selection 

6th to 7th Grade Course Selection: 

• February 6, 2025 : Counselors educate students on 7th grade and choices

• February 13, 2025: Due date for students to complete course selection 

7th to 8th Grade Course Selection:

Important Note: 7th grade Math teachers make recommendations for eighth grade Math levels, which include Algebra 8R, Algebra 8, Concepts in Algebra, or small group Math. 

•  March 24, 2025: Counselors educate students on 8th grade and choices 

• April 3, 2025: Due date for students to complete course selection and for course level change forms to be submitted

8th to 9th Grade Course Selection: 

Parents interested in vocational programs through Keefe Tech, Norfolk Aggie, or Minuteman, should contact students' school counselor. 

• February 25, 2025: Middle and High School Counselor educate students on 9th grade and choices 

• February 26-March 12, 2025: 8th grade individual appointments with counselors

• March 14, 2025: Due date for students to complete course selection, course level change request forms
