When and where does drama meet?

Drama classes meet in the Little Theatre (Also known as the Black Box Theatre) which is listed as Room 165.  We thrive in the Performing Arts Wing! Don't be afraid to come on down and see for yourself!

What if I just want to take the acting class?

You can certainly take Acting without the pressure of committing to being in a performance.  Acting will help you with public speaking, empathy, group cohesion, thinking on your feet, problem solving, understanding of the human condition and confidence. All skills learned in Acting can help you in all areas of your life.

In order to take Acting 3 & 4, you need to take Acting 1 and 2 for at least one semester.

Acting Classes

Acting 1

In Acting One, we review short form improv rules and operate with the risk taking "YES, AND" philosophy.  With the strong foundation of improvisation, students are then more receptive and ready for character work, scene study and space work.

Acting 2

Playing off our honed skills from Acting 1, we break into working on monologues, script analysis and honesty in our work. In Acting 2, we are preparing to take the step to Acting 3 which become more intensive. (However improv threads through - to keep us vulnerable and in the moment.)

Acting 3

Acting 3 starts with an Audition Technique unit and then we move into Playmaking.  Our playmaking process is deep and involved and the foundation for which the New Works Festival is based.  New plays are created with the collaboration of class ideas and input. Acting 3 prepares us for Acting 4 where students take complete ownership over their area of focus.

Acting 4

Acting 4 is the Active Intensive Year.  Students spend time working on Directing a One Act Play for performance and honing their skills through the leading of others.  In addition, students prepare for a Student Showcase for the Fall or the Spring.  The aim for completion of Acting 4 is the development of the well rounded actor, ready to confidently go out into the world.
