The WPS Wellness Policy outlines our District's commitment to creating a healthy school environment that supports the overall well-being of students, faculty, and staff. It is reviewed every 3 years by the School Wellness Advisory Committee
Focus on Health: The policy aims to foster physical, emotional, and social wellness among students through a coordinated approach.
Learning and Wellness Connection: It emphasizes that good health is essential for effective learning and encourages positive habits and decision-making.
Supportive Environment: This includes providing nutritious meals, health services, and opportunities for physical activity and education.
Inclusivity: The policy ensures that all students, regardless of their background, are considered and supported.
Holistic Development: The goal is to nurture each child's overall growth throughout their time in the District.
Our Wellness Policy Implementation Guidelines ensure that Wellesley Public Schools prioritize the health and nutrition of our students. This framework covers all wellness related services and activities during the school day, defined as 30 minutes before school day starts to 30 minutes after it ends.
Key highlights include:
Nutritious School Meals: Our food services prioritize appealing meals that meet strict nutrition standards, featuring a variety of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, all served in a clean and inviting environment.
Nutrition Education: Integrated throughout health and physical education classes, our curriculum empowers students with the knowledge and skills to make healthy food choices and understand the importance of nutrition.
Physical Activity Opportunities: We provide a range of fitness activities during and after school, encouraging students to engage in regular physical exercise and develop lifelong healthy habits.
Support for Dietary Restrictions: We ensure privacy for students with dietary needs and provide accessible nutrition information to accommodate all students.
