Class engagement is your investment in the class, and reflects attendance, participation in class activities and discussions, completing readings and contributing to your reading group.
- Class attendance is mandatory. Because this class meets once a week, you may only miss one class (see absence policy for details).
- Class engagement means participating in class activities and in discussions. For those who are comfortable speaking and leading activities, it means spending more time listening and collaborating. For those who are more comfortable listening or letting others take the lead, it means finding ways to participate in discussions, such as in small group discussions, and figuring out ways to draw on your strengths in group activities.
- Reading Groups will meet each week during class to discuss the readings for the day; each group member has an assigned role for the day, with required preparation. See Reading Groups for details. Students will be assigned to Reading Groups during the first class, with adjustments after the add/drop period.
