Stéphanie Ponsavady is the Resident Director for the Wellesley-in-Aix program. A former Associate Professor of French Studies at Wesleyan University and Resident Director of the Vassar-Wesleyan Program in Paris, she brings extensive experience and a deep commitment to intercultural learning and student development.
A Mobility Studies scholar specializing in colonial automobile systems, she's published a book and several articles on the topic, regularly participates in conferences and lectures in both the U.S. and Europe, and has contributed interviews to various media outlets. She currently serves as an Associate Editor of Transfers and is co-editing an upcoming Oxford Handbook of Mobility in Literature.
Born and raised in Provence, Dr. Ponsavady has a profound connection to the region. Her career has been dedicated to supporting students’ personal and academic growth. Students can approach her with any questions about their academic experience, including course registration, selection, and transcripts, as well as housing concerns such as homestays and meal plans. She is also happy to discuss any aspects of their study-abroad experience.
Student Life Coordinator, Tutor & Assistant
Célia Bourcy is the Student Life Coordinator, Assistant and French Tutor at Wellesley-in-Aix. She was born in Aix and completed her Master’s Degree at Aix-Marseille University, where she specialized in English Linguistics. In 2015-2016 she was a Teaching Assistant at Wellesley College, and she has since then continued working for Wellesley-in-Aix. She is the person you turn to for any questions related to extracurricular activities (volunteering, sport, arts…), student life, course content, and French grammar, as she is here to help you make the most of your Aixperience.
Excursion Assistant
Léa Roux-Etilé is the new Excursion Assistant. A native Aixoise, she spent seven years working with Aix-en-Provence's US Football team Les Argonautes and has extensive experience in intercultural dynamics. She will accompany the group during outings and serve as a point of contact for logistical questions, offer assistance to faculty and staff leading the activities, and ensure student punctuality.
