REUs, or Research Experiences for Undergraduates, are NSF funded research opportunities.
During the summer
Typically at a college campus
You get a stipend and housing is covered!
Usually work in small groups on a research project with a faculty advisor
Gives you a sense of what research is about
Often allows you to give presentations and/or write up your work (sometimes work gets submitted for publication)
Great experience if you are considering grad school!
